IT Project Manager

ErbilFull-time5+ yearsPMP preferredTravel across Iraq

About the role

You will run delivery on projects that span data center builds, multi-site network rollouts, security programmes and software implementations. Typical values run from tens of thousands to seven figures, and typical durations from six weeks to eleven months.

This is a hands-on delivery role in a company where the engineering standard is the product. You will hold scope firmly, protect the survey and design phases from being compressed, and make sure the documented handover actually happens rather than being the thing that slips when the deadline tightens.

You will be based in Erbil, reporting to the Head of Delivery, with regular travel to client sites across Iraq.

What you will do

  • Own delivery end to end: plan, schedule, resource, risk, budget and client communication.
  • Turn a signed proposal into a working plan with milestones, dependencies and an honest critical path.
  • Coordinate engineers across the network, infrastructure, security and software practices, plus subcontractors where used.
  • Manage procurement lead times and logistics, which in this market is a genuine part of the job.
  • Run change control properly: assess, price, get written agreement, then implement.
  • Chair progress meetings and produce reports the client's management can act on.
  • Plan and coordinate cutovers, including out-of-hours windows and rollback decisions.
  • Drive the handover: acceptance testing, documentation pack, training, and formal sign-off.
  • Run a lessons-learned review on every project and feed it back into how we work.

What we are looking for

  • Five or more years managing IT infrastructure or systems integration projects.
  • Enough technical literacy to challenge an engineer's estimate and understand a design review. You do not need to configure a firewall, but you need to know why the answer is not always "add another one".
  • Demonstrable experience holding scope against pressure, and running change control that sticks.
  • Confidence with clients at senior level, including delivering unwelcome news early.
  • Comfortable with procurement, customs and logistics realities in Iraq.
  • Excellent written English and Arabic. Kurdish (Sorani) is a strong advantage.
  • Willingness to travel and to be present for major cutovers.

Nice to have

  • PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent certification.
  • Data center or structured cabling project experience, including coordination with MEP contractors.
  • Public sector or tender-based delivery experience.
  • Agile delivery experience for the software side of the portfolio.
  • A technical background earlier in your career.

What we offer

  • Sponsored certification, including PMP, with exam fees and study time in working hours.
  • Projects with genuine engineering substance rather than pure coordination.
  • Authority to push back on unrealistic commitments. Our commercial team expects it.
  • A published competency framework for the delivery track.
  • Health cover for you and your dependants, transport allowance, project bonuses and 22 days of leave.
  • Relocation support and residency paperwork if you are moving to Erbil.

The conversation we will have. Bring a project that went wrong. We will ask what the early warning signs were, when you first raised them, and what you would do differently. Nobody at this level has a record of only successes, and we are more interested in judgement than in a clean sheet.
