We started because too many good businesses were being sold boxes instead of outcomes
OKTAGATE is an engineering-led IT solutions company. We design, build, secure and operate technology environments for organisations that cannot afford for them to fail, and we stay accountable for them long after the invoice is paid.
Founded on a very specific frustration
Our founders spent years inside enterprise IT departments in Iraq, on the receiving end of the local integration market.
The pattern repeated: a supplier wins on price, installs quickly, hands over nothing, and disappears. Two years later the organisation has an environment nobody understands, configurations nobody documented, and a support contract that produces a phone call and no engineer.
OKTAGATE exists to be the opposite of that. We survey before we quote. We design before we buy. We document as we build. And we measure our own SLA in public, because a service level you cannot see is not a service level.
Today we are a team of engineers, project managers and service-desk staff working out of Erbil, Baghdad and Basra, supporting clients from single-site businesses to multi-site groups with thousands of endpoints.
Founded in Erbil
Registered with a first contract to rebuild a manufacturing client's core network after a total switch failure. That job set the standard we still work to: survey it properly, document what you build, hand it over, stay accountable for it.
First data center build
An 18-rack hall with redundant UPS and clean-agent suppression. The project that turned us into an infrastructure company.
Baghdad office opens
Central and southern coverage, and the start of our multi-site branch rollout practice.
Managed services launched
NOC operations go 24/7. Recurring support becomes the majority of our revenue and the core of the business.
Security operations centre
SIEM and 24/7 SOC monitoring launched after responding to three ransomware incidents in eighteen months.
Basra office & Academy
Southern presence for energy clients, and OKTAGATE Academy formalised to train the engineers the market cannot find.
Six commitments we will not trade away
These are not posters on a wall. Each one has cost us a deal at some point, which is the only real test of whether a value is genuine.
Survey before quoting
We do not price a project we have not seen. A number produced from a phone call is a number that changes halfway through, usually upward, and usually at your expense.
Document everything
As-built diagrams, IP schemas, rack elevations, credentials handover and runbooks are part of every deliverable. If we vanished tomorrow, another competent engineer could pick it up.
Say no when it is right
If a scope is outside what we can deliver to our own standard, we decline and tell you who is better placed. Reputation compounds; a badly delivered project does too.
Own the whole chain
Cabling, hardware, configuration, integration, security and support under one contract. No triangulating between three suppliers while your system stays down.
Report honestly
Monthly SLA reporting straight out of the ticket system, including the months we miss. Service credits are written into the contract, not negotiated after an argument.
Build security in, not on
Security is not a product line we sell you separately. Segmentation, MFA, patching, backup and monitoring are in the base design of everything we build, whether or not security is what you called us about.
Nothing leaves the lab untested
Every rack, every branch kit and every firewall pair is built, configured, labelled and burn-in tested in Erbil before it goes anywhere near a client site. By the time it ships, we already know it works.
It costs us a few days per project and saves considerably more, because a fault found on a bench at 10:00 is an inconvenience and the same fault found in a comms room at 03:00 is an outage. It is also why our site visits are usually shorter than the competition quotes for.
The labelling matters as much as the testing. Cables get numbered to a written convention, port schedules get recorded, and the whole lot ends up in the handover pack. Three years from now somebody will have to change one of those links, and they should not have to trace it by hand.
One team, three locations
Three offices, one service desk and one set of numbers. Whichever site is nearest, you reach the same engineers, the same ticket queue and the same SLA.
