Dual-site data center for a commercial bank

Thirty-eight branches, a core banking platform with a four-hour recovery mandate, and a primary server room that had outgrown its power and cooling six years earlier.

The problem

The existing room ran at 96% UPS capacity with no redundancy, no suppression system beyond handheld extinguishers, and a single air-conditioning unit that had failed twice in the preceding year. Disaster recovery consisted of tapes stored in a manager's office. The bank's regulator had raised it formally.

What we did

Built a new 42-rack primary hall in a purpose-prepared area with raised floor, hot/cold aisle containment, dual-path modular UPS, in-row precision cooling and NOVEC-1230 suppression, alongside a DR site 40 km away with synchronous storage replication. Migration ran over seven consecutive weekend windows, service by service, with a tested rollback for each.

Outcome

Core banking never went down outside an approved window. The regulator's finding was closed at the next review. The bank now runs quarterly failover drills, and the first live drill restored full service in under fifteen minutes.

46-site SD-WAN refresh across three governorates

Problem. A patchwork of leased lines, consumer routers and unmanaged switches across field offices, camps and a head office. No central visibility, no failover, and an average of six site-down incidents a month.

Solution. Standardised branch appliance with dual-carrier uplinks, VSAT fallback on the eleven most remote sites, application-aware routing and central policy. Every site pre-built and burn-in tested in our Erbil lab, then shipped ready to power on.

Ransomware containment, recovery and SOC onboarding

Problem. A manufacturer called us at 05:00 with encrypted file servers, an encrypted ERP database and a backup server that had been encrypted alongside everything else. Production was stopped.

Solution. Isolated the environment, identified the entry point (an exposed RDP host), recovered from an offline copy that had escaped encryption, and rebuilt onto a segmented design with immutable backups and EDR before reconnecting anything.

3,200-user Microsoft 365 migration for a private university

Problem. An ageing on-premises Exchange server, home drives on a failing file server, no MFA anywhere, and a hard deadline: everything had to be live before semester registration opened.

Solution. Hybrid coexistence, staged mailbox moves over two weekends, home drives redirected to OneDrive, Intune enrolment for staff laptops, conditional access and MFA rolled out with a communications campaign in three languages.

Hospital network and PACS storage rebuild

Problem. Imaging studies took several minutes to open on ward workstations, clinical Wi-Fi dropped in two wings, and the PACS archive was three months from full with no expansion path.

Solution. Re-cabled two wings, replaced the access layer with PoE+ switching, redesigned Wi-Fi from a physical survey rather than a floor plan, and moved PACS onto tiered storage with a nearline archive. All work scheduled around theatre and imaging lists.

Full ICT fit-out for a 260-room hotel

Problem. A new-build property needing everything from structured cabling to guest Wi-Fi, IPTV, door locks, CCTV and back-office IT, with a fixed opening date and an MEP programme that was already running late.

Solution. Coordinated ICT design with the MEP contractor, in-room and public-area Wi-Fi with PMS integration for room billing, IPTV, 180 cameras, access control and a resilient back-office core, commissioned floor by floor as construction released areas.

Problem. A holding group where each subsidiary ran its own IT: different vendors, different standards, no consolidated licensing, and no visibility at group level of what was even deployed.

Solution. Discovery and asset inventory across all eleven entities, a standard build and vendor set, consolidated licensing under one agreement, central monitoring, and a shared service desk with per-entity reporting to the group CTO.
